31-10-2008: LG today presents the KS500, her first slider with a navigation key that also functions as an optical mouse. Except for this detail and the built-in GPS receiver the device isn't that special.

The battle between the two Koreans (Samsung and LG) is even heavily going on until the smallest details. If Samsung presents an eight megapixel camera, LG has one as well. When LG uses an extra display as a navigation key you will see this back with Samsung later on. This is the same with the KS500, the first LG device equipped with a regular navigation key that also functions as an optical mouse. Well, which device sounds familiar?! Yes, the Samsung i780 and the Samsung i7110. By using the navigation key as a touchpad you can simply scroll your finger over it and a mouse pointer will follow this movement on the display.

LG KS500
We cannot really say that we get really enthusiastic when we look at the LG KS500. The device looks quite conventional and actually offers nothing special for a mid-class device, except for a GPS and aGPS receiver. With this, you can make sure that you will always find your way. The triple-band slider is equipped with some fine material for the internet, namely GPRS, UMTS and HSDPA. So, you won't miss anything here.
For a little multimedia pleasure a 3.2 megapixel camera is placed at the back, a VGA camera for videocalling is placed at the front. Of course, a musicplayer is also not overlooked, as is a memory capacity of 100 MB, expandable with MicroSD memorycards.
The expectation is that the LG KS500 will only reach the shops next year. The full specifications of the LG KS500 can be viewed at the
