Sony Ericsson launches 8 megapixel phone

17-06-2008: Sony Ericsson makes the competitive brands shake today by being the first brand to launch an 8.1 megapixel device in Europe; the Sony Ericsson C905. Furthermore, they also launched the S302 Snapshot.

Yesterday we already told that Sony Ericsson was about to launch the C905, the first 8.1 megapixel device for the European market., but we didn't think that the device would see daylight today. It did though and the competitive brands that are still innovating with 5 megapixel phones may keep their eyes out, Sony Ericsson goes further.

What do we have to say? Sony Ericsson is past its time and, at least on the area of megapixels, they are ahead of the other brands. Whether the device is characterized as replacement of the digital camera, as a cheaper solution or easier to carry, the C905 is there for you. The C905 is the new flagship of Sony Ericsson and the newest jewel in the Cybershot Series. With an 8.1 megapixel camera and Xenon flash with countless functions and possibilities, both experienced and starting photographers can make lovely photos with the Sony Ericsson C905. So, when you take a look at the back of the Sony Ericsson C905, you really see a digital camera and this is something a lot of consumers like a lot.

The camera of the Sony Ericsson C905 is better than ever. The device offers a very powerful Xenon flash, autofocus, face recognition, an image stabilizer and lots and lots more. In order to make sure that you are able to store these photos of high quality Sony Ericsson placed 160 MB of internal memory that is expandable with Memory Stick Micro (M2) memorycards and they deliver a two gigabyte memorycard with the device so you can start rightaway.

The scratch resistant mineral glass display with 262.000 colours and a size of 2.4 inch is large and clear and perfect for viewing your photos. However, you can also project your photos on the television by connecting the device to the TV with the TVout cable. You can also send your photos via WiFi, bluetooth or e-mail, or even upload them directly to your own blog.

Because the Sony Ericsson C905 is equipped with a GPS receiver details about the location and time of your photos are automatically stored along with the photo itself. Due to this you will never forget where you've taken that special photo.

The standard possibilities of every other high-end model are also packed in the Sony Ericsson C905. UMTS, HSDPA and WiFi support are there for quick access to the internet and e-mail. An extra VGA camera at the front of the device enables you to make videocalls. A musicplayer and stereo FM radio with RDS support are also present.

It may be a little unnecessary but Sony Ericsson also launched another camera device today, the Sony Ericsson S302 Snapshot. This colourful device is made for the consumer that wants to take some photos underway but doesn't want to pay too much for his new phone.

The Sony Ericsson S302 comes to the market in a flashy colour and offers a good 2 megapixel camera with LED flash. The well-known Sony Ericsson possibilities of the camera are not overlooked and even functions such as digital zoom, a selftimer and the possibility to record short video fragments is there. When you captured a superb moment and the photo didn't succeed well it's possible to edit the photo with the standardly installed program Photo Fix.

Other possibilities of the Sony Ericsson S302 Snapshot are a musicplayer, bluetooth 2.0 support and the usage of internet and e-mail. Despite of the candybar not being equipped with UMTS and HSDPA support or WiFi the internet can still be reach on average speed due to the GPRS support.
