Hello there,

I've eventually found the ultimate resource for all my questions.
I live in Netherlands, but I (still) don't speak Dutch, so is quite difficult to manage my brand new device (see subject) in this language (I have to continuously use a dictionary  while I try to find out how to do any action).

However, I've seen that in some old post you guys provided some useful links to find english ROMs for other devices from da-developers.com.
Although I've mostly understood the procedure, I don't know if and how I can find the appropriate ROM for my device, also because I still trying to figure out what exactly is the model name: each website I find show similar products, with slightly different names.

Another think I'm trying to find is the Windows Live Mobile suite. From Miscrosoft websites looks like this service is available only in US, but in other websites seems that isn't true: any change to install these services on my HTC?

Thanks in advance.

Andrea

P.S.: sorry for my bad English, but is better than my Dutch ;)

Your device has the code-name "HTC Elf". When you look under your battery, you can see the HTC productname.

On this page, you can find a lot of information about your device, ROM updating and changing your system language (by a ROM update): http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.ph ... me=HTC_Elf . You have to choose for the link "Original Shipped Rom Versions en vervolgens te kiezen voor ROM 1.17.707.2B WWE

These pages provides the software you need to upgrade your device and a "how-to" guide for upgrading your device.

With kind regards,

Thanks for the tips!

I didn't understand how to make a "dump backup" of my ROM in case of troubles, but I see there is a Netherland ROM for T-Mobile.

Aniway. almost everything is quite clear.

Before starting the process, I would like to understand if the WWE ROM, since seems to be not T-Mobile cooked, would cause any trouble with T-Mobile services.

No, it would not be a problem. I have updated my phone several times before with the international software. The only thing you have to do is to make the provider settings manualy.

With kind regards,

Yes, that might be a problem, since for the same reasons I want to change language, I would be unable to find the settings from the Dutch website.

I think i will wait a couple of days, go to the shop, ask if they could provide me these settings, maybe explaining the reasons, just to be fair, then I will try to flash the ROM.

So far, thank you very much.

I will save this post and all URLs for the future when I will dare to flash the ROM.

Thanks again,
Andrea

Hello again.

I've downlaoded the ROM from this page (as suggested): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=331100

But as soon as I've started the patch, I've got this error:

Luckily my phone rebooted itself and was still working :)

Any additional advice?

Thanks

When you close that application and you'll try again (don't disconnect your phone from your computer and don't reboot your phone) maybe it will work.

The error you get means that the ROM version on your phone is not matching with the rom version you would like to instal...

With kind regards,

Tim Wijkman

Thank you for you reply.

I might be wrong, but when I close the application, the phone reboot itself.

However, I will try again this evening.

Thank you again.

Starting again the application, I noticed something I missed the first time:

The current image on my phone seems to be newer than the one from the application. Is that normal?

That's normal, this because the other languages have another ROM versions, this can be lower then yours...

Ok, sorry for being annoying.

I'm just quite paranoid, because if something goes wrong, I really don't know what to do.

Anyway, thank you for this clarification. I can now do the patch without (I hope) any additional doubt :)

Nothing, niente, nada: I keep getting the same message. The phone reboot itself and I have to close thew application (is the only option). When I try again, I get predictably the same behavior :(
